Getting married here in the Cook Islands...
Upon pledging your wedding vowels here in the South Pacific it is important we tell you a couple of important licence requirements i.e.
  • Cook Islands law requires all people wishing to get married to be 21 years of age or to have written consent from their parents
  • Application for a marriage licence must be made in person to the Registrar of Marriages at least three full working days before the wedding. You cannot apply for a licence outside of the Cook Islands
  • Applicants for a wedding licence must produce a passport and, if divorced, a copy of the Decree Absolute is required also
  • You are both required to be on the island of Rarotonga three full working days before the day of marriage or alternatively a “waiver fee” can be paid within this timeframe
  • Our marriages here in the Cook Islands are recognised internationally however it would pay to check with your own countries marriage licensing authorities for their local requirements concerning marriages.

Most weddings at Muri Beach Club Hotel are non-denominational and are performed by a local Justice of the Peace.

Important information when choosing Muri Beach Club Hotel

We are a hotel that does accept children under the age of 18 years when you are celebrating your special day with us but unfortunately the children cannot stay overnight
We do not require you to stay with us to marry at our hotel
We do not see it necessary for surcharges on public holidays or Sunday weddings, however outside services may apply surcharges.
We are your number one wedding planning coordinators who will endeavour to make this the best day of your lives and one that you both and your guests will remember

An excellent choice for a mix and mingle event before a formal dinner, or a fantastic option for a themed cocktail event. Canapés can be served Poolside, Beachside, inside the restaurant, under a Marquee or upstairs in our Lagoon Lounge to name a few. (please see room hire costings below for more information).

Our chef can create a special menu whether just the two of you, of a small group of 30. Set menus can be served inside the restaurant, upstairs in the Lagoon Lounge or Beachside with the sand between your toes beachside. $45pp for 2 course – no choice, $55pp for 3 course – no choice, $65pp for 3 course 2 choice main & dessert, $75pp for 3 course. Please note the above menu can vary depending on availability and accessibility to the island. Venue hire fees vary depending on the number of persons and what set up is required.

Wedding Cake Information

We here at Muri Beach Club Hotel can arrange the making and decorating of your wedding cake as this saves the hassle of bringing from home and excess luggage! Choosing the shape be it round or square, one or more tiers to many flavours being it chocolate, banana, coconut & pineapple, carrot to a light fruit cake the choice is yours.

These weddings cakes range from $145.00 upwards.

Wedding Package Terms & Conditions

  1. All prices are quoted in New Zealand dollars.
  2. All prices are inclusive of government taxes at existing rates (12.5% VAT), any tax increased will be passed on.
  3. Confirmation of booking is on receipt of deposit and return of signed Terms and Conditions form.
  4. A minimum non-refundable deposit of 20% is required to confirm the booking.
  5. Muri Beach Club Hotel reserves the right to cancel the booking and allocate the venue to another client, if the deposit has not been received within 15 working days of making the reservation.
  6. Wedding ceremony and reception package must be paid in full 3 months prior to wedding date.
  7. Wedding ceremony and/or reception packages can be upgraded but not be downgraded within 2 months of wedding date.
  8. Wedding cancellations:
    1. Cancellations must be in writing at all times, verbal changes will not be accepted nor honoured.
    2. It is your responsibility to ensure you have received written acknowledgement of cancellation from our resort. No written acknowledgement on your records from our resort means the reservation has not been cancelled.
    3. 100% charge of wedding ceremony and reception package applies for all cancellations received within 2 months of wedding date.
  9. Cancellations/Changes to bookings made by the hotel whilst we endeavour to provide all facilities advertised we will not be liable for compensation in the event we are forced to provide limited services, cancel or change your booking in anyway as a result of situations outside our control which we could not foresee or avoid such as inclement weather, civil strife, industrial disputes, natural disasters, war, terrorist activities, fire or flooding
  10. The client is responsible for any damage, spoilage or loss to Hotel property, caused by guests attending the reception. An additional charge may be incurred for replacement or cleaning the damaged, soiled or hissing hotel property. Muri Beach Club Hotel will not accept any responsibility for the loss or damage to any equipment, merchandise or personal effects left on the premises prior to, during, or after the reception.
  11. Under no circumstances will the hotel allow any food or beverage to be brought into Muri Beach Club Hotel function areas without prior permission from Management.
  12. All dinner music is to be turned down by 11.00pm and off at 11.30p.m.
  13. Any wedding held on a Sunday or Cook Islands Public Holiday may incur a surcharge.
  14. All prices within our information pack together with terms and conditions shown above are current at this time and are subject to change at any time without prior notice (except in the case where an existing booking for a particular service is confirmed and full deposit/payment has been received by Muri Beach Club Hotel.
