GUARDIANS OF THE LAGOON

A relatively undiscovered atoll of lush greenery amidst the brilliant blue of the South Pacific Ocean, the 15 islands that make up the Cook Islands –  with their white-sand beaches, impossibly clear lagoons, swaying palms and jungle-clad mountain ranges – are arguably some of the most beautiful in the world.

We are conscious of the hotel’s impact on this tropical idyll that we’re fortunate enough to call home and consider ourselves ‘guardians of the lagoon’. Through fundraising initiatives and raising awareness among guests, we assist a range of not-for-profit organisations and local government initiatives dedicated to sustaining the biodiversity of the Cook Islands. Some of these groups include The Centre for Cetacean Research, SPCA and Te Manu Vet Clinic, and the Cook Islands Marine Park.

We take steps on a daily basis to reduce our impact on the stunning local environment, including encouraging guests to offset their carbon emissions; reducing and recycling waste; conserving energy and water; using environmentally-friendly toiletries made from biodegradable formulations; and cooking with local, sustain-ably sourced products in our kitchens.
